Awarded second place by the Antonio Gades Foundation in Madrid, this experimental video commemorates 50 years since the death of flamenco dancer Antonio Gades. Inspired by the novel "Blood Wedding," the project contrasts the traditional flamenco dance with a performance by a young bailaora, who mimics the traditional steps as if dancing with Gades himself. Dressed in black as a sign of mourning, the dancer embodies the timeless spirit of flamenco.
Using mixed media to blend tradition with modernity, the video features 750 hand-painted frames created over four days, merging classic flamenco with contemporary artistic expression. This unique approach honors the legacy of Gades while bringing a fresh perspective to his enduring influence on the art of dance.
